Melplash Agricultural Show

The Melplash Show really is great day out for all the family.   It celebrates rural life by the sea in West Dorset with farming, horticultural, home and handicraft competitions, regional food and drink, shopping and an eclectic mix of breathtaking entertainment.

Watch local farmers and their handlers showing their finest livestock – cattle, sheep, goats and pigs – and being put through their paces by the judges; view beautiful blooms and admire the mind-blowing specimens of vegetables competing for the top spot in the Horticulture and Floral Arts Marquee.  Sample delicious regional food and drink in the Porter Dodson Food Hall and enjoy a wide and varied selection of street food around the Show field.   Take a seat in the Moores Cookery Theatre and embrace the work of top local chefs:  Jaap Schep, Three Horseshoes Pub & Kitchen, Burton Bradstock; Jake Swain, Station Kitchen, West Bay; Sanjay & Helen Choudhury, Taj Mahal, Bridport; ; James Mearing, Summer Lodge, Evershot and Luyanda Nkoneyeni, Acorn Inn, Evershot, as they cook up delicious dishes using local produce.

See spectacular entertainment in the Bradford's main ring including  Moto Stunts International – who will be performing a fantastic adrenalin packed display of death-defying motorcycle stunts - Bob Hogg and his sheepdogs with their hilarious sheep and geese herding demonstrations and, of course, the highlight of the day, the Grand Parade of prize-winning animals.   

Immerse yourself in the popular Kitson & Trotman Countryside Area with its full timetable of country pursuits including falconry, gun dogs, ferret and terrier racing, and demonstrations of many traditional rural crafts.

For the younger generation there is plenty to see and do to keep them entertained. As well as getting up close to farm animals and farm machinery, enjoying the entertainment in the main ring, the countryside area and the fun fair, there is a dedicated Discover Farming area where there are lots of free hands-on activities to get them thinking about where their food comes from.
