Exhibition: The Right Stuff?

Bridport Museum

17th May 2021 - 30th Jun 2021

UNTIL Wednesday 30th June

Bridport Museum's 'The Right Stuff' exhibition is part of its collections review project.

It seeks to find out from the local community what they think the museum should keep collecting now and also in the future.

Bridport Museum only displays around five per cent of its collections but has around 20,000 objects in its stores - many of which are of national and international significance like the rope and net and fossil collections.

The remainder continues to be a challenge to manage, costly to maintain and in some cases, difficult to justify. The museum wants to ask - why do er have certain things? Should we have them? If not, where should they go?

It also wants to create space for future collections - how would Bridport like to represent itself for future generations?

The exhibition introduces visitors to some of the challenges that the museum faces in caring for its collections with opportunities for them to have their say.
