Jazz in the Theatre
Bridport Arts Centre
22 Oct 2021
UNTIL Friday 22 October

Radio Banska is an instrumental jazz/world quartet fusing Levantine mystery, Balkan passion and Latin rhythms into powerful original compositions. They will be playing at Bridport Arts Centre on Friday 22 October.
Guitarist Dave Spencer writes and arranges the band's striking original material - melodic compositions with a Middle Eastern feel that give the project its unique character. Fellow guitarist Tony Barby also plays charango, (a small Bolivian lute) which adds an authentic touch to the pieces with South American rhythms.
Bassist Sol Ahmed has appeared at Ronnie Scotts and the Montreal Jazz Festival, and Jon Clark, who has studied with many masters of ethnic percussion traditions, completes the ensemble on drums. In addition the band will be bringing a special guest on accordion-Mirek Salmon, a tango specialist who is a mainstay of manouche/cabaret band Moscow Drug Club and was a featured accordionist for a Renault advertising campaign.
"Radio Banska rips up the file marked 'genre' and throws the resultant musical confetti in the air for all to dance around in . . ." The Bell, Bath"An extraordinarily powerful band, a kind of Levantine zeppelin!"
