Bridport: Bakery replaces benches with removal tables and chairs to stop young people drinking there in the evenings
Rise Bakery has replaced its outside fixed benches with removal ones to deter young people sitting there and drinking in the evenings.
Bridport Town Council had been made aware of issues at the bakery on East Road near the Esso garage, in which people were buying alcohol and congregating at the tables and chairs.
At a town council planning meeting, councillor Dave Bolwell said: "Rise agreed to remove the tables and chairs, that's very kind of them. They didn't have to do that but they realise there is an issue there."
Rise bakery now has tables and chairs that can be taken into the shop when it closes each evening.
Town clerk Will Austin echoed Cllr Bolwell's comments and said: "Well done to them."
