Organisers have made the 'very difficult and sad decision' to cancel this year's Bridport Christmas Cheer event.
Terri Foxwell, cheer co-ordinator, said: "Whilst we appreciate this is disappointing news, we hope everyone understands the steps we need to take to keep everyone safe.
"Bridport Christmas Cheer is one of the biggest and busiest town centre events and the committee feel that we are unable to deliver the event safely and ensure social distancing, particularly in its usual format."
The team is still planning to bring cheer to Bridport for the festive period and is working on plans for some smaller events as an extension of the town's historic street market on Saturday, December 12.
They are also working on an exciting project with Crowdfunder to create a virtual Christmas market, which would enable the general public to be able to purchase online, some of the Christmas gifts which would normally be available at Christmas cheer, whilst also supporting local businesses and traders.
