Allington Hill and Cooper's Field are spreading cheer and hope this Christmas.

As well as Trees of Hope, there are also 'Christmas trees' which are lit up each evening in the field off Hospital Lane.

Cathy Harvey, of Allington Hillbillies, which looks after Allington Hill and Cooper's Field, said: "Pyramid shapes made from stakes and holly and ivy light up at night to look like a row of Christmas trees. They are placed at the top of Cooper's Field so they can be seen from the hospital. This is to give cheer to all the workers and patients at this time of year. The tree shapes are dedicated to all the key workers and volunteers in the local community.

"If any group, organisation or family would like to make a tree and add a dedication, please email [email protected] and we can provide the stakes for you to decorate as you wish."

People can also write messages or wishes and put them on the Trees of Hope.

Wooden discs can be found in the tree by the main gate and either bring pens with you or take a disc home to decorate and add a wish or write a message to a past loved one.

"You can gather sticks and make a star or your own decoration.

"When the wind blows, your wish or message will float up to heaven.

"It would be lovely to see our Trees of Hope covered in wishes and messages.

"In previous years we put all the wooden tags, pens, string in a box for people. Because of Covid, we are not able to do that so we are hoping people will take a tag off the tree to decorate or out their own decorations up."
